Amex Gold Card

The Amex Gold is a great mid-tier travel credit card for anyone looking to travel more frequently. I got it during an insane 90,000 bonus points promotion that I instantly earned since we needed to buy new windows for our house.

Chase United Explorer Card

The Chase United Explorer Card is a great beginner travel card if you fly United often, or are looking to use points to get you to Europe. My home airport is DIA which is a United hub, and made this card a no-brainer. I got 80,000 points as my promo, and they increased the promo to 90,000 about 3 months after I got the card. I emailed customer service and they instantly gave me an additional 10k miles to make it equal the higher deal, and have a great customer service team to work with.

One perk with any United Card is you'll get a personal code that gets you 10k bonus miles anytime someone signs up for a United Card using your link, up to 100k miles per year.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card

The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card is a great beginner travel card for someone not wanting to be tied directly to United. As a partner with United, you can transfer your points to the airline at a 1:1 ratio anytime, but also can be used towards hotel programs or other airlines if preferred.
